Kerala Congress vice president KC Rosakutty resigned from the party on Monday. Former MLA from Sulthan Bathery constituency and chairperson of the Kerala Women’s Commission, Rosakutty was reportedly unhappy with the present developments in the party. Rosakutty’s resignation comes a few days after Kerala Congress’s women wing president Lathika Subhash resigned and shaved off her head at the KPCC headquarters in protest after being denied a ticket for the upcoming state assembly elections.
Ahead of assembly polls in Assam, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday expelled 15 of its leaders, including former deputy speaker Dilip Kumar Paul for a period of six years for going against the party decision and contesting the polls as independents. BJP state general secretary Rajdeep Roy said the party’s Assam chief Ranjeet Kumar Dass has approved the disciplinary action with immediate effect.

Rumblings within the ruling TMC in West Bengal came to the fore Thursday when minister Suvendu Adhikari resigned as chairman of the Hooghly River Bridge Commissioners (HRBC), and party MP Kalyan Banerjee was named to the post with immediate effect. Adhikari was not available for comment Thursday, but a close aide, who is also a TMC leader, said, “It (his resignation from HRBC) can be treated as the start of his exit from the TMC.”

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, who faces one of the most challenging elections of her polical carrer, on Friday suffered another setback as senior Trinamool Congress leader Suvendu Adhikari resigned as the state’s transport minister. “Today at 1:05 pm a resignation letter of Mr. Suvendu Adhikari from office as minister addressed to Hon’ble Chief Minister has been forwarded to me. The issue will be addressed from constitutional perspective,” the Governor tweeted.

Former Congress MP Annu Tandon, who resigned from the party a few days ago, will be joined the Samajwadi Party. Tandon joined the Samajwadi Party in a small function at the party headquarters with SP chief Akhilesh Yadav welcoming her. Senior BJP leader Eknath Khadse quits the party, to join NCP on Friday. Khadse informed NCP Leader Jayant Patil that he has quit the BJP and will be coming to the NCP fold on Friday. Khadse was number 2 in the Devendra Fadnavis cabinet before he being ousted out over allegations of helping his family to purchase land that was already acquired by the Maharashtra industrial development corporation. He resigned in 2016 and has been alienated by the BJP since then.
