Responding to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s statement demanding his resignation over the Cooch Behar killings, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said if the people of the state ask him to resign from his post, he is ready to do so. While addressing a rally in Basirhat in North 24 Parganas district, Amit Shah asserted that Trinamool Congress (TMC) will lose the ongoing state assembly polls and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will have to step down on May 2. “Didi has been asking for my resignation. If the people of West Bengal demand that I put down my papers, I am ready to do so with my head bowed. But Mamata will have to quit the CM’s post on May 2,” Amit Shah said.
Mamata Banerjee’s election strategist concedes that even in TMC’s internal surveys, BJP is winning – Amit Malviya on Prashant Kishor
That moment when you get on Club House to brief Lutyens journalists, most of who are now jobless and YouTubing or work for discredited rags, and speak too much without realising that the conversation is not private and is being recorded… Someone just delivered a blow to Pishi! In a public chat on Club House, Mamata Banerjee’s election strategist concedes that even in TMC’s internal surveys, BJP is winning. The vote is for Modi, polarisation is a reality, the SCs (27% of WB’s population), Matuas are all voting for the BJP! BJP has cadre on ground. Another candid admission by Mamata Banerjee’s election strategist – all that the Left, Congress and TMC ecosystem have done in the last 20 years is Muslim appeasement. Implication? It has resulted to resentment on ground. The speakers had not realised that the chat was public! Modi is hugely popular in Bengal and there is no doubt about it. There is a cult around him across the country. There is anti-incumbency against TMC, polarisation is a reality, SC votes is a factor plus BJP’s election machinery, says Mamata Banerjee’s strategist in an open chat. Is it open? That moment when Mamata Banerjee’s strategiest realised that the Club House room was open and his admissions were being heard by the public at large and not just a handful of Lutyens journalist. Deafening silence followed…TMC’s election was just thrown away!
Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan, in Bengal to campaign on behalf of Mamata Banerjee and the Trinamool Congress, came out guns blazing at her first press conference, reminding voters that Ms Banerjee was “fighting to preserve the democratic right of every Bengali” and warning rival political parties – she did not name any – against “hijacking my religion… democratic rights”. “I have the utmost love and respect for Mamataji – a single woman fighting against all atrocities… a single woman fighting against everyone else. She has a broken leg, but nothing is going to stop her,” Ms Bachchan, a Bengali by birth, and a four-term Rajya Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh, said.
Samajwadi Party (SP) MP and veteran actor Jaya Bachchan on Monday campaigned in West Bengal for Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee and said that the chief minister is fighting for the democratic rights of the people in the state. Bachchan said that she is campaigning for Mamata Banerjee and TMC on the instructions of her party chief Akhilesh Yadav, who has been speaking against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) since losing state elections in Uttar Pradesh against it. The BJP has challenged the TMC, vowing to unseat Banerjee from power in West Bengal.
Poll strategist Prashant Kishor says Bengal is a fight CM Mamata & PM Narendra Modi where turncoats don’t matter
Poll strategist Prashant Kishor says that Bengal is a fight between Chief Minister Mamata and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and turncoats don’t matter. He explains how BJP creates fear before a contest, and warns that if the TMC loses Bengal, India will be headed for one nation, one party, with the BJP controlling people’s lives. In an interview, Kishor said, “Around November-December last year, there was a lot of hype being created around the BJP, that they are going to sweep the State, get 200 seats, etc. So, it was important for us to say publicly that this is not true… There is no way that in December the BJP was in a position to be winning 200 seats.”
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee pulled out the ‘gotra’ card during the last leg of campaigning in Nandigram and declared that she is ‘Shandilya’. Now, BJP and AIMIM leaders have targeted Mamata Banerjee saying this is desperation speaking. As Mamata Banerjee downed the curtains on the final campaign in Nandigram, where she is pitted in a high-octane battle against her former confidante Suvendu Adhikari, she signed off saying her gotra is ‘Shandilya’. “I visited a temple where the priest asked me my ‘gotra’. I told him – Maa Maati Manush, but actually, I’m Shandilya,” said Mamata Banerjee.
“I visited a temple where the priest asked me my ‘gotra’. I told him – Maa Maati Manush, but actually, I’m Shandilya,” said Mamata Banerjee. Reacting to the ‘gotra’ remark, BJP leader Giriraj Singh said, “Due to fear of losing polls, Mamata Didi has told her gotra. Didi, just tell me, if Shandilya is also the gotra of Rohingyas and infiltrators. She’s scared now, that’s why sometimes she’s attacking BJP workers like Suvendu and sometimes using her gotra.”
Accusing West Bengal BJP of creating a fake survey showing Mamata Banerjee losing from Nandigram, Prashant Kishor’s consultancy firm Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) issued a statement calling it fake and said the saffron party was using fake surveys in I-PAC’s name to keep the morale of their workers up. The fake survey went viral on social media showing West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee losing from the Nandigram seat.
Industrial growth has stopped. Only his (PM Narendra Modi’s) beard is growing. Sometimes he calls himself Swami Vivekananda and sometimes renames stadiums after his own name. Something is wrong with his brain. It seems his screw is loose.
Purulia, Bankura and Midnapore are not new to us. We have been coming here for ages, standing in support with the Adivasis and contesting elections for many years. But this election is different. This is an election to save the values, culture, existence, religious harmony and the interests of the Adivasis. The ideals of JMM and TMC are somewhat similar and my party chose to set aside differences with Didi to stop BJP. After winning a few seats in the Lok Sabha election, they (BJP) think it can win the assembly election here. They had made the same mistake in Jharkhand after winning 12 of the 14 LS seats, but we ousted them and now, Didi’s TMC will do the same here.
Narendra Modi will soon be projected as someone bigger than Ambedkar… even bigger than Tagore – Mamata Banerjee
They (saffron camp leaders) dictate whether someone should wear a sari or any other attire. They decide if a pregnant woman should eat eggs. If the BJP is elected to power, it will roll out the NPR and NRC exercises and remove names of bona-fide citizens from these registers. The party wants to change the history and geography of India… they change names of educational institutions at will. A cricket stadium in Gujarat has been named after PM Modi. One day they will change the name of our nation. Narendra Modi will soon be projected as someone bigger than Ambedkar… even bigger than Tagore.
We are yet to know the details of the money spent under PM Cares Fund. What all has been going on under the garb of disinvestment is no secret. I, on the other hand, don’t take single paise as salary. I have forfeited my allowance as a former MP, and as an MLA. Modibabu, you should explain why you are so eager to sell off stakes and close down Coal India, BSNL, MTNL and SAIL. Why you are so keen on closing down nationalised banks. CPI(M) goons had unleashed terror in Kotulpur, Chomkaitala belts (in the 90s and early 2000), when I was an opposition leader. They had even attacked me when I visited the affected areas to be on side of victims families. Those same CPI(M) harmads (goons) have joined the BJP.
Yes, contrary to what some people like to believe, the discontent is mostly local, which is not to say it can be brushed aside. The Trinamul is a unique party and its nature has to be understood. It is not a party with a deep history or a committed cadre base. It is built on the sheer energy of a lady called Mamata Banerjee and it revolves around her. People keep joining and leaving but the core is Didi, nobody else. One of the challenges has been, with all these individuals coming in and departing, to retain internal coherence when so many others are coming and going, and it all comes down to Mamata to maintain coherence and reduce contradictions.
They had hit my head, my back, my hands and almost every part of my body in the past – Mamata Banerjee
They had hit my head, my back, my hands and almost every part of my body in the past, you all (people) know that. This time, they (rivals) decided to target my leg to stop me from stepping out of home. But they don’t know Mamata Banerjee well. Also, please don’t accept any food and cigarettes from a stranger during the voting exercise. Don’t go anywhere leaving the EVMs unguarded, no matter who asks you to. I won’t ask you to reject the offer because anything that they are giving you has been bought with misappropriated public money. But do not vote for them.
Didi’s people are making graffiti on the streets of Bengal wherein she is hitting my head with her foot & playing football. Didi, why are you insulting Bengal’s culture and traditions? The more I question Didi, the angrier she gets. Now she says that she doesn’t like my face. Didi, in democracy, it is the public service & not the face which is put to test.
The govt employees of West Bengal have not received the 7th Pay Commission. We will implement it as soon as we form the govt. We will also increase salaries of the teachers. Mamata Didi wants to make her nephew the next CM. On the contrary, PM Modi wants to make Sonar Bangla. If you want Sonar Bangla, make sure you form a BJP govt in the state. TMC goons should not feel that they are safe. After forming the govt on May 2, we will find the murderers of 130 BJP karyakartas and put them in jail!
BJP party means Bharatiya Joghonno (bad) Party. I was Lok Sabha MP seven times and I have seen many prime ministers. But I have never seen such a ruthless, cruel PM. BJP is a party of monsters, demons, Ravana, Duryodhana, Dushasana, unrest & terror.
Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee on Sunday blamed herself for not recognising the “true face” of the influential Adhikari family of Purba Medinipur district. Venting her ire against Suvendu Adhikari, her protege-turned-rival who is pitted against the TMC leader from Nandigram constituency for the coming assembly polls, Banerjee said at an election rally, she had even heard rumours the Adhikari family had built an empire worth Rs 5,000 crore.
Poribortan (change) is Mamata Banerjee’s slogan; why are you copying Mamata Banerjee?… After winning Bengal, we will jump to Delhi and shake BJP. Thousands of crores of rupees were doled out by the TMC government for the cyclone-affected. There could have been one or two exceptions… But we rushed to be on the side of people. Where were BJP leaders then? At the time of human miseries, they are always absent. The BJP will omit names of voters if they are not found at home during the visit of enumerators. They will just evict you (people). But we would not allow them to update the register here. Not a single member of any family, no citizen of the country can be evicted from Bengal.
Baba Saheb Ambedkar has given us the freedom of vote and to choose. However, in Bengal, Mamata is constantly looting your freedom to vote. In 2018 Panchayat elections, the rigging done by TMC was witnessed by the entire world. I assure the people of Bengal that Didi will not be able to trample over our democracy anymore. I assure the people of Bengal, that Didi will no longer be allowed to crush democracy. The police and administration should also remember that nothing is greater than the limits of the Constitution and democracy.
Actor couple Neel Bhattacharya and Trina Bhattacharya joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Saturday, ahead of the West Bengal state assembly election. They were inducted into the party in the presence of TMC general secretary Partha Chatterjee. The husband-wife joined a league of other Tollywood actors, including June Malia and SayGhosh, who are backing Mamata Banerjee’s party this poll season. Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress, after the mass exodus witnessed in the last few months, welcomed new members to the party. Actors Saayoni Ghosh, June Malia, Sudeshna Roy, Manali De, and director Raj Chakraborty were some of the celebrities who entered politics with TMC.
Mamata Banerjee’s irritation to Jai Shri Ram was a trigger point for me to join the BJP – Ramayana Fame ‘Lord Ram’ Arun Govil
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s irritation to Jai Shri Ram was a trigger point for me to join the BJP. And there is nothing wrong in saying Jai Shri Ram….it is not a slogan, not even a political slogan. It is a way of life for us, it represents our culture and ethos.
She is a daughter like crores of daughters of India – PM Narendra Modi on Mamata Banerjee at Purulia Rally
Bengal made up its mind long back. It is been saying ‘Lok Sabha mein TMC half aur iss baar poori saaf’. Seeing this determination, didi is taking out her frustration on me. But for us, she is a daughter like crores of daughters of India. Respect for them is part of our culture. That is why we were concerned when didi got injured. I pray to God that her leg injury heals soon.
Didi says khela hobe, BJP says jobs; Didi says khela hobe, BJP says education; Didi says khela hobe, BJP says development; Didi says khela hobe, BJP says the rise of women; Didi says khela hobe, BJP says jobs; Didi says khela hobe, BJP says you will get a pucca house, clean water and taps in every home.
According to TV9 Bharatvarsh, Mamata Banerjee continues to remain the most popular face for the chief ministership. Mamata has been two-time Chief Minister of Bengal and is the yet most favoured choice for CM for 3rd consecutive term. Other names which are favoured choice of public include Bengal BJP Chief Dilip Ghosh at No 2, Suvendu Adhikari (Mamata’s challenger) at No 3. A section of people also want to see Mithun Chakraborty and Sourav Ganguly as their Chief Minister.
The high-stakes battle for Bengal has the nation’s attention hooked to it. With days to go for 1st phase of polling, election campaign has reached a feverish pitch, with both TMC and BJP intensifying their high-octane campaign. In the meanwhile, TV9 Bharatvarsh has conducted an Opinion poll ahead of the elections in which it anticipates a close combat between the two main rivals – TMC and BJP. The Survey finds out that Mamata factor remains the biggest factor in Bengal elections, even ahead of BJP’s star campaigner Narendra Modi. Muslim voter base, Insider vs Outsider are some other issues, which the electorate is discussing at ground, found the survey.
If West Bengal Rejects BJP in Upcoming Polls, then in 2024 Election they will Lose Power even from Delhi – Mamata Banerje
Midnapore was under the control of a traitor. Before entering Midnapore everyone had to take permission from that traitor. The BJP is afraid of me because they know that they can buy everyone but not me. The outsiders (BJP) are trying to capture the iconic places of the state. If they are voted to power then they will destroy the fabric of the state. They don’t even know where Rabindranath Tagore was born. Now if West Bengal rejects them in the upcoming polls, then in the 2024 election they will lose power even from Delhi.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday once again upped the ante against the BJP saying they don’t want to see Modi’s face while addressing a poll rally in East Midnapore. “Bid farewell to BJP, we don’t want BJP. We don’t want to see Modi’s face. We don’t want riots, looters, Duryodhan, Dushasana, Mir Jafar,” Banerjee said in East Midnapore.
Pakistan & Bangladesh don’t have a vaccine so you’ll have to take PM Modi’s vaccine – Suvendu to Mamata
You’ll have to take PM Modi’s vaccine against COVID. He’s elected PM. Speaking against him is speaking against democracy. Speaking against him is speaking against Bharat Mata. Pakistan & Bangladesh don’t have a vaccine so you’ll have to take PM Modi’s vaccine.
West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh while attending a road show at East Midnapore’s Chandipur claimed that being afraid of defeat Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is trying to get ‘sympathy’ votes. “TMC supremo knows that she and her party will lose the upcoming polls. This is why she is resorting to sympathy votes. But this time people of West Bengal are aware of the tyrant rule of the TMC for which they will vote in favor of the saffron camp,” mentioned Ghosh.
Releasing the party’s manifesto for the upcoming polls, Mamata Banerjee promised increasing employment opportunities. She said her government will work towards decreasing unemployment, saying they will create 5 lakh jobs in a year. We will ensure a minimum annual income of Rs 6,000 and Rs 12,000 for general category and backward community people respectively in Bengal, Mamata said while releasing the poll manifesto.
Narendra Modi promised to vaccinate people of Bihar after coming to power, during elections. But did they provide vaccines? No, they did not, they lied. “Don’t vote for BJP otherwise, you won’t be able to follow your ‘dharma’. You will have to say ‘Jai Shree Ram’, you will not be able to say ‘Jai Siya Ram’. Lord Ram used to worship Maa Durga because she is much bigger in stature.
‘Duare Sarkar’ program will be held four months a year. Free ration will be provided at doorstep – Mamata Banerjee
For the first time, every family in Bengal will be extended a minimum basic income. Under this, 1.6 crore general category families will get Rs 500 a month, whereas SC/ST category families will get Rs 1,000. The money will be directly transferred to the woman head of a family. We will set up 10 lakh new MSMEs and 2000 new big industrial units in the next five years. We shall appoint a Special Task Force to examine and propose OBC status to all the communities which are not recognised as OBCs like Mahishya, Tili, Tamul and Sahas. We will also ask the Government of India to grant ST status to Mahatos. ‘Duare Sarkar’ program will be held four months a year. Free ration will be provided at doorstep.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday alleged that the opposition BJP wanted her to keep indoors ahead of the West Bengal assembly elections, which apparently resulted in her injury. Addressing a public meeting in Gopiballavpur in the Jhargram district, Banerjee alleged that earlier it was CPI(M) which used to physically attack her, and now the BJP was doing the same. “They cannot throttle my voice, we will defeat BJP,” she said, while urging the people of the region to vote for the TMC candidates. “Every vote you cast for our candidates will be for me,” she added.
Amit Shah is frustrated because of the poor turnout at his rallies. Instead of running the country, he is sitting in Kolkata and hatching conspiracies to harass TMC leaders. What do they want? Do they want to kill me? Do they think they can win elections by killing me? If they think so, they are wrong. Is Amit Shah running the EC? He is giving instructions to the EC. What happened to their (poll panel’s) independence? My director security (Vivek Sahay) was removed under his instructions.
Will the Home Minister run the country or is he sitting in Kolkata and hatching conspiracies? Where someone will be arrested, where someone will be beaten or where agencies will get behind people? Industrialists are being raided and now even the Home Secretary has been raided. I want to ask the Election Commission to look into this. Why are government officers being harassed during elections? Why are political people being harassed? Those who led the farmers’ agitation in Nandigram are being issued warrants. Will everyone who took part in Nandigram and Singur agitations face notices?
The Chairperson of All India Trinamool Congress, Mamata Banerjee will be addressing the media from her Kalighat Office today regarding the upcoming 2021 Assembly Elections. As per reports, TMC is likely to announce its poll manifesto today.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and BJP’s star campaigner Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the Trinamool Congress, saying “only 45 days are left for the party’s departure”. Addressing an election rally in Purulia, Adityanath also took a dig at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over her Chandi Path during a public meeting in Nandigram from where she is in the fray against BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari. “Only 45 days are left. Trinamool’s departure after May 2 is certain,” he said.
Mamata Banerjee is in pain, but what about pain of families of BJP workers killed in Bengal – Amit Shah
Union Minister Amit Shah on Monday trained his guns at an injured Mamata Banerjee and said that the West Bengal Chief Minister is in pain, but is not concerned about the pain of families of 130 BJP workers killed in Bengal. “Mamata Banerjee is in pain, but what about pain of families of BJP workers killed in Bengal?” he asked while speaking at a rally in Ranibandh in Bengal. Addressing a public rally in Jhargram virtually after his helicopter developed a technical snag, Shah highlighted designated schemes for the tribal community of the state. “If elected, under Stand Up India Scheme Rs 100 crores will be allocated to make the tribal community atmanirbhar,” Shah said.
Mamata Banerjee has a leg injury, it’s not known how she got it. TMC calls it a conspiracy, but EC says it was an accident. Didi, you’re roaming around in a wheelchair, concerned about your leg, but not the pain of mothers of my 130 workers who were killed.
Suvendu Adhikari filed complaint to Election Commission against Mamata Banerjee accusing her of suppressing information on Criminal cases
BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari on Monday has filed a complaint to the Election Commission against West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and accusing her of “suppressing” information on criminal cases in her nomination papers. In his complaint to the Election Commission, Suvendu alleged that the TMC supremo suppressed the information about five cases filed against her in Assam and another lodged by the CBI in West Bengal.
The TMC candidate for the Nandigram assembly constituency, the honourable chief minister, in her affidavit has not mentioned at least six cases which are under trial against her. One is a CBI case and five others are in Assam. I have appealed to the ECI (for rejecting her nomination). I hope they will take necessary action. I will wait and see what action they take. The action must be as per the law.
TMC government will remain in power, you will continue to get free ration. We will deliver ration to your doorstep. You don’t have to come to the shop after May. My government has taken the decision in the budget to give Rs 1,000 to all the widows. This is the only state that has not snatched the land rights of tribals. Did they give you Rs 15 lakhs as they promised? Remember, people cannot be purchased with money. On one side, we are doing development activities and on the other side BJP is increasing fuel and gas prices. How did BJP become rich all of a sudden? They have earned a lot by selling banks. Don’t bow down your head. If ideologies, character, moral and values are lost, everything will be lost. They torture media and is trying to shut our mouth. Till I am able to speak I will continue to raise my voice.
Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Saturday expressed doubt over the incident in which West Bengal Chief Minister was injured during her poll campaign, and sought to know whether it was engineered. Asked about the impact of Banerjee’s injury on the election results, he said, “The question is whether or not the incident was engineered. Same was the question when the echo of a slap was heard in Delhi… because the scriptwriter of the two is the same,” Shekhawat said without naming anyone.
Reports of district administration and EC have called it an accident. Mamata ji has said that she was pushed. It’s a controversy between governance and administration. This attempt of stirring controversy and gain sympathy has backfired. We are not worried. Those (TMC) who tried to use the wrong means to gain sympathy from people should be worried. They have been exposed.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be back to campaigning for the West Bengal Assembly elections after being discharged from SSKM Hospital on Friday. Banerjee was admitted to the hospital after she suffered injuries on her left leg and waist at Birulia bazar in Nandigram in East Midnapore district on March 10. She had then claimed that she was attacked by “four-five persons”. Banerjee will hold a roadshow on a wheelchair from Gandhi Murti to Hazra on Sunday. Banerjee will address a rally in Hazra in the afternoon. TMC has, however, cancelled the release of its election manifesto, which was scheduled for today.
I have faced lot of attacks in life but never bowed my head. If people vote for us, we’ll ensure that democracy returns to them. May all conspiracies against Bengal be destroyed. I assure that I’ll campaign on a wheel chair with a broken leg. Khela Hobe. A wounded tiger is the most dangerous animal.
Four days after she was injured and hospitalised during an election campaign in Nandigram, TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee on Sunday attended her first public event, as she led a road show in Kolkata on a wheelchair. Accompanied by senior TMC leaders, Banerjee was seen greeting the crowd with folded hands, with security personnel pushing her wheelchair.
Mamata Banerjee paid tributes to the agitators who were killed in police firing in Nandigram in 2007
West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday paid tributes to the agitators who were killed in police firing in Nandigram in 2007 and said she has chosen to fight “anti-Bengal forces” in the constituency as a mark of respect to the martyrs. Banerjee, who is pitted against former lieutenant and BJP candidate Suvendu Adhikari in Nandigram seat, said that farmers are the pride of West Bengal and the state government is working tirelessly for their development.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was back on the roads of Kolkata on Sunday, four days after suffering injuries at the hustings in Nandigram. Leading a TMC march on a wheelchair, Mamata was greeting the crowd with folded hands as her security personnel pushed her wheelchair. “Doctors advised me against going out for campaign today. But I felt that I should participate in today’s rally as we have already lost a few days due to my injury. “My pain is not greater than the suffering of people as democracy is being trampled through dictatorship,” she said.
Reacting to the EC’s verdict on the circumstances leading to Mamata Banerjee’s injury, Minister of State (MoS) for Home G Kishan Reddy said on Sunday, “We have complete trust in the ECI. So, no point having any doubts on their observation.” “Mamata Banerjee was never attacked, people of Bengal already knew. Mamata’s drama to turn an injury into an attack has defamed her and her party. This will actually work in the favour of the BJP,” G Kishan Reddy said.
Mamata ji and the TMC will try to gain sympathy and they should do. But the people of Bengal are very alert about politics and there will be no sympathy vote in that sense. I am confident that Mamata ji is going to be defeated this time and get a befitting reply. The people of Bengal are waiting for a change.
I can tell you she (Mamata Banerjee) has been a fighter from early on and she is still a fighter – Yashwant Sinha
I have worked with her (Ms Banerjee) under Prime Minister Atal Bihar Vajpayee. I can tell you she has been a fighter from early on and she is still a fighter. I want to tell you today that when the Indian Airlines plane was hijacked to Kandahar, there was a discussion happening in the Cabinet. Mamatji offered to go herself as a hostage on the condition that the Indians are released in exchange. She was ready to make that sacrifice.
We discussed Nandigram incident involving injury to CM Mamata Banerjee – Swapan Dasgupta, BJP Rajya Sabha MP
We discussed Nandigram incident involving injury to CM Mamata Banerjee & raised that according to SOP, all events centred on nomination filing are videographed by EC. They certainly must be in possession of it. It will clear up mystery, speculation.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was discharged from hospital at 7pm Friday where was admitted after she sustained during campaigning in Nandigram. Banerjee said she was targeted by a group of “four or five people, who pushed her” outside a temple where she had stopped to offer prayers on Wednesday. She cut short her visit and returned to Kolkata, where she was admitted at the SSKM Hospital.
I’m hoping I can get back to my daily schedule after 2 or 3 days. But owing to the condition of my leg, there would be a problem but I will manage it. I won’t cancel any of my meetings… I might have to travel on a wheelchair in order to do it.
Union Minister Smriti Irani on Friday slammed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for getting her photos clicked and affixed to posters claiming credit for central schemes started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and wondered whether the people of the state would vote for “such a daughter” who unleashes violence on mothers and masses. Taking a dig at TMCs poll slogan ‘Bangla Nijer Meyeke Chai’ (Bengal wants its daughter), Irani wondered if the people would want return of a regime that unleashes political violence on people of the state.
I don’t know who attacked Mamata Banerjee or what was the plan. It should be investigated. I don’t think there is any politics involved. She wasn’t attacked ever before, how can someone do it now. Looking at the situation in West Bengal, I think BJP will come into power. Mamata Banerjee has been in power for 10 years, now people want change. Republican Party of India will contest on 15-20 seats & support BJP there.
BJP national president JP Nadda said he prays for West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s speedy recovery, but there is a deviation in her statements about Wednesday’s incident in Nandigram. Speaking at the India Today Conclave 2021 (South) in Chennai on Friday, JP Nadda said the truth of the incident will ultimately come out. He was responding to a question whether the Nandigram incident and Mamata Banerjee’s image with a fractured foot could help the TMC gain sympathy votes in the state assembly elections.
At the outset, I wish a speedy recovery to Mamata Banerjee. God should help her get a speedy recovery. As far as the incident is considered, the Election Commission is yet to give a statement on the matter. But I see there is a deviation in Mamata ji’s statement, between what she said after the incident (on Wednesday in Nandigram) and what she said yesterday.
This film is very old and its director is also well-known, whether you see Telangana polls or Delhi polls. Now, it is an old script in Bengal, every time only the dialogues and the language change. All the three chief ministers, there is only one advisor, this drama is not going to last long. This is not the culture of Bengal. There is a gang of his mentors who have taken training from America and has done such activities continuously.
On March 9, the Election Commission changed the state Director General of Police. Follow the chronology carefully. On March 10, a BJP MP posted on social media – ‘aap samajh jayenge, 5 pm ke baad kya hone wala hai’ (you will understand what will happen after 5 PM) and it happened to Mamata Didi at 6 pm. The chronology is pointing towards a conspiracy and we demand a high-level probe. Those responsible for the incident will not be spared.
Election Commission issued stern response to letter sent to it by TMC over injury of Mamata Banerjee
The Election Commission has issued a stern response to a letter sent to it by Trinamool Congress over the injury that Mamata Banerjee suffered yesterday. The poll panel strongly objected to the attempt of the ruling party in West Bengal to blame it for the alleged attack on the Chief Minister. The ECI has taken a strong objection to the allegations made by the TMC, and has denied their claims. The state issued by the ECI says that the incident involving Mamata Banerjee was indeed an unfortunate incident and it deserves to be inquired into with promptitude and dispatch.
Mamata Banerjee Likely to get back in West Bengal Elections on Wheelchair, a twist in the State Elections
Her left foot in a plaster cast and doctors saying she is in “immense” pain following a fall in Nandigram a day earlier, TMC leader and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said Thursday that she hopes to recover soon and may use a wheelchair to campaign for the Assembly elections starting March 27. In a video message from SSKM Hospital in Kolkata where she is admitted, Banerjee urged her party cadres to remain calm and not to do anything that could trouble the common people.
Mamata Banerjee is a much-loved leader who has given a clean government in West Bengal. She has immense support from the people. She has the strength to take on anyone and win in West Bengal. She will win the Assembly election too. We should now give her moral support and I stand by her.
Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda on Thursday expressed concern over the alleged assault on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Referring to Mamata as his sister, the JDS supremo wished her speedy recovery, while appealing for restraint on all sides. “I am very much concerned about the health condition of my sister and colleague Mamata Banerjee. I wish her a quick recovery.
Mamata Banerjee called the 2012 Park Street Rape, a story concocted to embarrass her govt – Sonam Mahajan
Mamata Banerjee called the 2012 Park Street Rape, a story concocted to embarrass her govt. Her advisor assassinated victim’s character. Damayanti Sen, the lady officer who cracked the case earned Mamata’s wrath, got a low-profile posting. Not all women in power, empower women.
West Bengal BJP President Dilip Ghosh gets in an exclusive conversation with media and opens up on the attack claim made by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Ghosh clarifies that they are ‘demanding both good treatment of Mamata Banerjee and an inquiry to find out what actually happened’. Talking about the political war ahead of West Bengal Assembly Polls, Dilip Ghosh further goes on to claim that ‘The hero of Nandigram movement is not Mamata Banerjee but Suvendu Adhikari’.
BJPs candidate from Nandigram, Suvendu Adhikari, Wednesday accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of trying to divide people along religious lines. Addressing party workers after inaugurating an election office of his party in Nandigram, Adhikari said the TMC chief incorrectly recited Chandipath Tuesday. Claiming that Banerjee has stopped saying “Inshallah” and “Khuda Hafiz”, Adhikari said, “Yesterday, she prayed to Ram at Janakinath temple wearing slippers.
West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee got injured while campaigning in Nandigram. She had filed her nomination from the much-hyped Nandigram Assembly constituency on Wednesday. As Mamata Banerjee was being taken to her car, she was spotted by media persons looking unwell. When asked about her health, the two-time Chief Minister revealed she was manhandled by 4-5 people and has been injured.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is expected to release Trinamool Congress’ election manifesto on the occasion of Maha Shivratri. However, it has to be seen whether the TMC supremo, who on Wednesday was injured and admitted to SKMM Hospital after being manhandled by “four-five men” during the election campaign in Nandigram, is able to release the manifesto.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has claimed that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wrongly chanted the Chandi Path at a rally in Nandigram on Tuesday. The party’s West Bengal unit tweeted a video of Mamata’s Chandi Path at a rally and coupled it with another video of Chandi Path which it claimed to be the correct verse. The saffron party suggested that Mamata should stick to reciting kalma and not pretend to be a Hindu. “It is too late now to wash the sins of brazen minority appeasement of last 10 years,” the tweet reads.
She (Banerjee) is an outsider in Nandigram. She does not even cast her vote here. I am not only the ‘bhoomiputra’ (son of the soil of Nandigram) but also a regular voter of the area. I have been with the people of this place for several years unlike Banerjee, who comes here only during polls.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee filed her nomination papers from the Nandigram seat, while her rival and BJP candidate Suvendu Adhikari will hold a show of strength, as the stage is set for the Battle Royale in the constituency. Adhikari, whose name was announced as the BJP candidate from the seat on Saturday, will file the nomination on March 12. For 50-year-old Adhikari, the contest in Nandigram will be a fight for his political survival as he had vowed to defeat Banerjee by over 50,000 votes in the seat or quit politics. Adhikari won the Nandigram seat in the 2016 assembly election, while another TMC candidate emerged victorious from the constituency in 2011.
I am here to serve all, no matter which section they belong to… People are with me, 100 per cent of them. On Shivratri (Thursday), I will be offering puja at a temple, which is close to my accommodation in Nandigram, interact with people there and then file my nomination.
