BJP on Saturday launched a poster to counter Trinamool Congress’ (TMC) campaign slogan “Bangla Nijer Meyekei Chay” (Bengal Wants Its Own Daughter). BJP’s poster says, “Bengal Wants Its Own Daughter, Not Pishi” and has the faces of the party’s female leaders from Bengal. ‘Pishi’ is the Bengali word used for paternal aunt. The BJP tweeted the poster with the slogan in Bengali, “Bengal Wants Its Own Daughter, Not Pishi”. Several BJP leaders including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, have used ‘pishi-bhaipo’ jibe to hit out at the Bengal CM and her nephew, alleging them of dynasty politics.
Are Bengal Poll Dates Suggested by Prime Minister Narendra Modi & Amit Shah – West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Questioned
From BJP party sources, I have seen the list of poll dates they wanted. And now I have seen the list out in the public. They are the same. I am sorry. I am shocked. Are Bengal poll dates suggested by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah? I am the only one woman chief minister in the country… I will win… and then Modi and Shah, you watch the battle in the 2024 general elections. We will fight it and how.
States with almost the same number of seats were voting on a single day. Why is Bengal being humiliated. South 24 Parganas will vote over three phases. Why? Because we are strong in that district? Why half-half district election every day? Is this on the advice of Modi and Shah? So that they can come and campaign here after they finish with Assam and Tamil Nadu? This is a khela (sport) but we will defeat you and turn you into ghosts. We are people of the grassroots.
“I am Bengal’s daughter. I am in politics for 40 years. I know every district, every assembly seat. Whatever you do, I will smash your conspiracy. People of Bengal will rule Bengal. People of Bengal will avenge this insult of eight phase polls,” Mamata Banerjee told media. Beside multiple phase elections in many districts, what has angered Mamata Banerjee is the deployment of two special police observers to the state, including Vivek Dubey. “He was here in 2019 also and we know all the drama he did and games that he played.” she said.
Has this been done with the advice of Modi and Amit Shah? Has this been done to facilitate their campaigning? So that they can finish Assam and Tamil Nadu before coming to Bengal? This won’t help BJP. We will demolish them. I am the only one woman chief minister in the country… I will win… and then Modi and Shah, you watch the battle in the 2024 general elections. We will fight it and how. They are diving people on lines of Hindu-Muslim. The game is on. We play and win. They are dividing the entire country. But let me tell you, I know Bengal very well.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking his help in procuring the Covid-19 vaccines by the state government to vaccinate people free of cost. In her letter, Banerjee said: “We have embarked upon the COVID vaccination programme in right earnest. All the health workers, police workers, municipal workers, revenue workers and other frontline workers are being covered by COVID vaccination at a rapid pace. In fact, West Bengal being an election-going State, we are required to reach out practically to every government and para-statal employee on an urgent basis to make the election safe.”

The BJP is on a mission to make an inroad into God’s Own Country, Kerala. After metro man E Sreedharan, who joined the BJP, the party is now eyeing Olympian and former athlete PT Usha. This comes as no surprise to many in Kerala that the BJP has been wooing her aggressively. She supported the BJP and Centre strongly over farm laws. Her tweets also show a definite leaning and support for the BJP. BJP has had representation in Parliament from the Kerala but the state is largely between Left and Congress. As part of ‘mission south’ the BJP wants to make its presence felt. It feels that roping in icons from the state could boost its prospects and help also grab eyeballs.
The TRS has decided to field late PV Narasimha Rao’s daughter S Vani Devi as its candidate for the Graduate MLC election from Hyd-Rangareddy-Mahbubnagar seat. She will file her papers on Monday. Since the last day for nominations is February 23, the decision comes as a surprise for the party workers and even Ministers and MLAs. The indications from the party so far was that it would stay away from the elections in this constituency and extend support to Independent candidate K. Nageshwar, which was opposed within the party quite strongly.

After the recent terrorist attacks in Kashmir earlier this week, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday urged the Centre to start a dialogue with Pakistan to stop the bloodshed so as to ensure peace in the Union Territory. “Till when will people of J-K, Police and jawans be sacrificed. BJP says repeatedly that Pakistan sponsors violence here (Jammu and Kashmir) then they (Centre) should start the dialogue process — be it here or with Pakistan,” Mufti told reporters. The BJP government should think and start the process of dialogue so that the bloodshed is stopped, the PDP president added.
Absolutely sweet question. But I am not even sure I had a dream. i just kept doing what was before me and went along the flow. I don’t think I chart any course in my life. I walked along the path which was before me and that destiny has taken me wherever I am. Only thing is I better perform so that I don’t disappoint people who have given me the responsibility and I don’t want to disappoint the people of India.
There are some leaders (in Delhi) who said they knew how to break the spine of Bengal. It is not easy to gouge out our eyes & break our spine… I request all of you to say ‘Joy Bangla’ whenever you answer a phone call, not hello. Today is the 21st of February. Language Martyrs’ Day. I pay homage to those who sacrificed their lives for the Bengali language on this historic day. Best wishes to all on the International Mother Language Day. Respect all languages but take pride in your mother tongue.
As long as there is life in me, I will not be afraid of any intimidation. We have fought against guns and are not afraid of fighting against rats. Let there be a challenge in 2021, let us see whose strength is more; there will be only one game in 2021 and I will be the goalkeeper in that match and want to see who wins and who loses. We have not learnt to lose and they won’t be able to defeat us.
Railways is to be blamed for the blast at Murshidabad where minister Jakir Hossain was injured – Mamata Banerjee
Without taking the name of any particular party or individual, Mamata Banerjee alleged that some people were “pressurising” Hossain to join their party. The West Bengal government on Thursday handed over the probe into the matter to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). “Railways is to be blamed for the blast at Murshidabad where minister Jakir Hossain was injured. I challenge Amit Shah, contest against Abhishek Banerjee first and then me,” she said, amid a loud cheer from supporters. Banerjee said that she has neither made Abhishek the deputy chief minister nor the chief minister and he is just an elected MP.

Dr. Kiran Bedi has been removed as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry while Governor of Telangana, Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, has been given the additional charge as Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry. The development has come on the day when the Congress-led government in the Union Territory slipped into a minority after one more legislator resigned reducing its tally in the assembly. The President has directed that Dr. Kiran Bedi shall cease to hold the office of the Lieutenant-Governor of Puducherry and has appointed Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, Governor of Telangana, to discharge the functions of the Lieutenant-Governor of Puducherry, in addition to her own duties, with effect from the date she assumes charge of her office, until regular arrangements for the office of Lieutenant-Governor of Puducherry are made,” Ajay Kumar Singh, press secretary to the President, said in a statement.
AIADMK has been our main opponent all these years. But this time, we are up against the BJP-led AIADMK. The State has lost its independence and we are facing an election to uphold social justice. This election is not about the victory of MK Stalin but of the victory of Dravidam. There may be minor conflicts within the party. The AIADMK will try to take advantage of these conflicts.

The country has been worn out but my dear selectors, do not do this with Pakistan again…I feel bad when people bad-mouth the selectors because after all, the institution is ours. I say to Wazirabad police and administration […] I know that you yourself are frustrated [but] the nation is looking at you; if you instead of serving the country and the people try to serve anyone else, try to steal the vote and make a lost person win, then remember, Imran Khan came once but now at least Punjab will not let him come [to power] again.
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will visit Prayagraj today on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya, an auspicious day for taking bath in the Ganga. The state of West Bengal witnessed massive political tensions ahead of the upcoming by-polls as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had to alter plans for its ‘Parivartan Yatra’ in Bengal’s Murshidabad district for the second consecutive day, this time in view of chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s election rally. There is no reason to think I am weak, I am not a person to be afraid of anything. I am a strong person and will keep my head high as long as I live and till then I will live like a Royal Bengal Tiger. We have not forgotten the gaddars like Mir Jafar (who backstabbed Siraj Ud-Daulah during battle of Plassey). We should never forget the gaddars. You should all teach them a lesson. There are some who indulged in corruption have now jumped to BJP…to enter the BJP washing machine to get cleaned.
Government of ‘Ma-Mati-Manush’ (TMC Slogan) will Retain Power in the State – West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee
There is nothing to worry about. The government of ‘Ma-Mati-Manush’ (TMC slogan) will retain power in the state … BJP is a gas balloon, alive only in the media. They have money and are using agencies to put up (party) flags on the streets. Let them do so and stay alive in the media… TMC will stay alive in your hearts. You assure me this and I will ensure you a (good) future. Dacoits have suddenly accumulated so much money. Now they are approaching the ‘BJP washing machine’ where they are entering black and coming out white. They are going there for money and nothing else. I would not have given them the ticket to fight the elections. Why should I give tickets to those who have done bad work! People will be happy if I give tickets to new people instead of to these people.

These particular farm laws were in the area of marketing. It was widening the market for farmers. Being able to sell to multiple outlets besides the Mandis without having to pay a tax. And this had the potential to raise, in our view, farmers’ incomes. That said, every time a reform is put in place, there are transition costs. One has to make sure and pay close attention that it’s not harming vulnerable farmers, to make sure that the social safety net is provided. Clearly there is a discussion right now and we’ll see what comes out if it.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday (January 25) lashed out at the BJP, accusing it of insulting Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose by raising ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogans at an event to mark the icon’s 125th birth anniversary. In UP, be it Ganga Expressway or other development projects or the new airport to be built in Jewar, the whole world knows that these are the eminent models of development formulated in the BSP government. First, the SP and now the present BJP government keeps patting itself on its back over these.
If Congress Govt at Centre didn’t obstruct them due to political interests & in name of environment – Mayawati
Metro and new schemes of basic public facilities in the state”s major and ancient cities, including Ayodhya, Varanasi, Mathura, Kannauj, and the completion of them in record time are also the development model of the BSP. It was on priority with the rule of law that gave benefit to all sections. After BSP government in 2012, whatever little development has been possible in UP, they are the result of the thinking of the BSP regime. In my government, this work would have been with more rapid pace if the Congress government at Centre did not obstruct them due to political interests and in the name of environment.
West Bengal is not going to cow-down in front of expansionist & undemocratic forces – Mamata Banerjee
GoI’s order of central deputation for the 3 serving IPS officers of West Bengal despite the State’s objection is a colourable exercise of power and blatant misuse of emergency provision of IPS Cadre Rule 1954. This act is nothing but a deliberate attempt to encroach upon State’s jurisdiction & demoralize the serving officers in WB. This move, particularly before the elections is against the basic tenets of the federal structure. It’s unconstitutional & completely unacceptable! We wouldn’t allow this brazen attempt by the Centre to control the State machinery by proxy! West Bengal is not going to cow-down in front of expansionist & undemocratic forces.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Thursday that the government has taken several measures to support the economy but no amount of intervention will be adequate to deal with the crisis triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic. Addressing the annual general meeting of the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Sitharaman said that while in early 2020 green shoots and revival signs of the economy were visible, it was upset with the pandemic setting in.
We did not restrict the opportunities to any particular sector. This was needed to keep the industry floating. But no amount of intervention by the government willbe adequate. Had the government of that time had done something more, the economy now would have been in a better shape.
December evokes in all Bangladeshis the spirit of joy, freedom and celebration as we recall with deep gratitude our ‘Father of the Nation’ Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Under whose dynamic leadership we earned our great independence. I pay deep homage to the three million martyrs who laid down their lives. I pay tribute to the members of the Indian armed forces martyred in the war and to their families. I pay my gratitude to the government and the people of India who extended their whole hearted support for the cause of our nation.
“Though I don’t subscribe to this view, I do believe that the party’s leadership lost political focus after my elevation as president. While Sonia Gandhi was unable to handle the affairs of the party, Dr Singh’s prolonged absence from the House put an end to any personal contact with other MPs,” Pranab Mukherjee wrote, according to excerpts from the book released by Rupa.
Mamata Banerjee knows that the land under her feet has slipped and so she is trying to return to power in the state on the strength of violence. I urge the Election Commission to deploy central forces from now itself in order to put an end to the prevailing atmosphere of political violence and terror in the state.

This is not the only time in recent days that Mufti had alleged that unfair restrictions were being imposed. “Illegally detained today for the third time in less than a fortnight. Too much democracy indeed. If my movements are curbed due to ‘security concerns’ then why are BJP ministers allowed to campaign freely in Kashmir while Ive been asked to wait until culmination of DDC elections?” she had tweeted a day earlier.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s much-anticipated participation at the prestigious Oxford Union Debate in the UK was cancelled, hours before it was scheduled to begin, after the debating society sought to postpone it citing “unforeseen circumstances”. The address was to be held virtually, as per reports. At the time of writing, no clear reason has been made available by either the Oxford Union or Mamata Banerjee’s camp for the sudden postponement.
The party heads and senior leaders will decide on that. Anybody is welcome with open arms to be associated with the BJP. We have a strong alliance in Tamil Nadu with the ruling AIADMK government. So, if Rajinikanth wants to come along with us, then he is most welcome. But if he is going to start his own party like has said, I think he will go solo and will bring the change what he is looking at. We completely leave it to Rajinikanth to take a call on that.
I had only commented on Shaheen Baag dadi cos they instigated riots there even that tweet was deleted almost immediately, I don’t know from where they brought another elderly lady in to the picture and now endlessly spreading lies.Vultures trying to instigate mob against a woman.
I think much has been spoken on Kangana. No need to give her that much importance now. Everybody has the right and freedom to criticise, she is free to do it. I wish to clear this today that I never responded to her [Kangana] in my interview [earlier]
It has been 14 months since I quit Congress and not 14 hours. There is a huge difference when people quit a party and immediately join another. But I think Maha [Vikas] Aghadi government has done a praiseworthy job in the state. They got only three months of normal working [before pandemic]. Uddhav ji has steered the state very well. He shows strength where needed and speaks to us like a family member when required.
Shiv Sena’s women’s wing is very strong and I’m happy to be a part of it. I am proud to be a part of Mumbai and work on women’s and children’s issues. If my MLC is accepted, I would like to work on women’s and children’s issues.
Everything appears in front of you on a teleprompter when you are giving a public speech. You just read it. The public won’t get to see it. Only a few people know this. Earlier it was a practice in the USA and the UK. Now we are seeing it in India.

Her father, Abdul Rashid Shora, went on to lodge a complaint with the Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police. Shehla, however, rejected the allegations levelled against her.
Many of you must have come across a video of my biological father making wild allegations against me and my mum and sis. To keep it short and straight, he’s a wife-beater and an abusive, depraved man. We finally decided to act against him, and this stunt is a reaction to that.

Rapes are taking place in the state every day. A six-year-old child was raped in Malda few days ago. Children aged between seven and eight are being raped. Do you know who are committing these rapes? In most of the cases, TMC workers and supporters are raping women. Didimoni (Mamata Banerjee) told them that I have failed to give you jobs so if you need any entertainment… go and rape. She said you go and rape women, and I will compensate them with money.

The amount of legal cases, abuses, insults, name calling I faced from Maharashtra government in these few months make Bollywood mafia and people like Aaditya Pancholi and Hrithik Roshan seem like kind souls… I wonder what is it about me that rattle people so much.
The state’s ordinance on unlawful religious conversion was signed into a law by governor Anandiben Patel on Saturday. From now on, it is illegal to religiously convert a person unless a two months’ notice is given to the district magistrate declaring one’s intent to convert. When they can talk with China despite that they are grabbing our land in Ladakh, there should be a dialogue between India and Pakistan. Or is it that Pakistan is a Muslim country, that is why they don’t talk to them ?
I can actually drag them to court but Kangana does not want – Rangoli slams Taapsee Pannu, Swara Bhasker
Here’s an important announcement, some people tried to spread misinformation during illegal demolition of our property at Pali hill…. Please be ware of such anti social elements … I will keep informing you all about such shameless fellows in future as well !! One thing I can’t ignore and want to say – when we were going through the most difficult time as a family I was deeply hurt to see B grade actors like Swara and Taapsee mocked and laughed at Kangana’s demolished house. They even went on to call the demolition legal. I can actually drag them to court but Kangana does not want any action against them. People please watch out for these frustrated, jealous and simply B-grade women, don’t believe anything they endorse about Kangana.
All the scrutiny/ bashing Bullydawood gang got is finally yielding some results, Indian films aren’t just about 4 film families, movie mafia gang is hiding in their houses and letting juries do their job and congratulations team Jallikattu.
I have been illegally detained yet again. Since two days, J&K administration has refused to allow me to visit party leader Waheed Ur Rehman’s family in Pulwama. He was arrested on baseless charges. Even my daughter placed under house arrest. BJP ministers and their puppets are allowed to move around in every corner of Kashmir but security is a problem only in my case.

The issue will be addressed from constitutional perspective,” the Governor tweeted.
The central government is treating farmers as “enemy of the State”, SAD leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal alleged, condemning the use of force to stop them from marching towards Delhi in protest against the Centre’s farm laws. Badal had resigned from the Union Cabinet in September in protest against three farm sector bills, which later got the President’s assent after being passed by Parliament. She was the Union minister for food processing industries.
Hundreds of farmers led by Medha Patkar have been stopped from entering Uttar Pradesh near the Saiyan village in Agra district close to the Rajasthan border. The agitating farmers from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh were headed for Delhi to join the demonstration against the farm laws. A long queue of vehicles from both sides disrupted the traffic movement.
There is no place for outsiders in Bengal. Those who come to the state only during elections and try to disturb peace of the state are not at all welcome. They (BJP) are saying they will convert West Bengal into Gujarat. Why do they want to turn our Bengal into a riot-torn place like Gujarat? We don’t want riots.
BJP leaders have been protesting against alleged lawlessness in Bengal under the Mamata Banerjee government. BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya on Tuesday claimed that security for women is the worst in the state. Those who insult the tricolour are traitors and I don’t want to say anything to these people,” added Prachi.
